Temptation Got the Better of Me
I remember as a young child how entranced I was by my mother’s collection of figurines. I knew they were very costly and dear to her and I was not, of course, allowed to touch them. There were days when I was very tempted to remove one of the lovely ladies in her Doulton Collection from the glass case and hold her for just a little while. One afternoon temptation got the better of me and I took one of the prettiest ones out of the cabinet. I didn’t have a secure enough hold on it and it fell from my grasp and shattered on the floor. My mother was very unhappy and even though I could not replace it I thought to myself that someday I would try.
